BOOK 1: DEATH IN IRELAND
Henry Bodine’s sister is killed by a bomb in Belfast at the height of the Irish troubles. But what’s an all-American girl from LA doing in Belfast? And who had reason to kill her? Searching for answers in Ireland, Henry finds himself up against the sort of violence he met only once before, when he was a US Air Force pilot in Bosnia. But this time it gets personal. Only two people seem willing to help him: Chief Hanson, a laid-back cop in LA, and Penny Hamilton, a sensual stripper in Belfast. With their help, Henry digs behind a web of lies and evasion until he discovers the truth. Along the way, he finds himself infatuated with Penny to the point where it becomes a major problem. They’re great in bed together, but she’s still a small-time stripper.
BOOK 2: DEATH IN FRANCE
Henry Bodine is on vacation in Europe, trying to get his head straight after a family tragedy. While in France, he gets caught up in the gruesome murder of a mysterious English girl aboard a motor cruiser. Things get worse when the victim's body disappears and the French police don't believe his story, so Henry sets out to track down the killer. Along the way, he comes up against a range of suspicious characters. What is he to make of Brigitte L’Orly, a sultry French teenager who seduces him time and again? She is clearly hiding something important. And what about the odious youth and his girlfriend who seem to be obstructing Henry? Or the older guy who is obviously tailing him? All the clues eventually lead Henry to a mysterious old man living in a grand chateau. And, along the way, he finds someone to help him overcome the grief that brought him to Europe.
BOOK 3: DEATH IN ENGLAND
A family funeral brings Henry Bodine and his wife to rural England. Her uncle, Eddie Carter has been brutally murdered in his cottage. The police treat is at a burglary that went wrong, but Henry isn’t so sure. He discovers secrets that have been hidden for years, secrets that slowly lead him closer to the real reason for Eddie’s murder. As a schoolboy in 1941, Eddie Carter lied about his age in order to join the RAF and fight against the Luftwaffe. Almost straight away he came up against a personal vendetta responsible for more than one untimely death.
While Henry digs deeper into the past, he also struggles to cope with a personal problem: his wife’s distress over her inability to conceive.
